From a customer e-mail:
I’ve been having trouble logging into My Account – I received an e-mail from you confirming I had activated an account, but when I try to log in w/ my e-mail and password, I get the error message: “Invalid Credentials.” – Any suggestions for fixing this?
This is an anomaly in the automated database we use to setup your accounts behind the scenes. It usually crops up when someone signs up for the newsletter prior to establishing a store account. Since both utilize a single database – and each e-mail address can only be entered once into the system – our site will not set up an account for you in this situation if you attempt to set it up with the same e-mail address you used to sign up for the newsletter. *
The good news is that I can manually over-ride this on your behalf!
The bad news is that there isn’t a way to migrate the previous orders you may have placed before your account was set up into the new account, once created.
We use an SaaS (Software as a Service) program to host our store. The limitations I am discussing are built into this service . . . because if I could manage my own database (like in SQL or something like that), I would have much more control over all of this. At the moment, though, we have to deal with this issue as it crops up.
Please contact us if you need to check whether or not your account is active, or if you need us to help you set one up.
* However, if you set up your store account prior to signing up for the newsletter, then this won’t be an issue at all. :)
